Mom Nature Walk at Ascot Hills Park
Here is the sign up for the Mom Nature walk.
This Month we will be having it on Friday, February 20th 9-11am
As always we will meet in the first parking lot left as you drive in. We will start walking at 9:15am 🚶♀️
We will end our walk at the amphitheater where we will have time to chat have our snacks.
Bring your snacks and water to stay hydrated.
This is a free event. All you need to do is sign up with the QR code or send me a message with the phrase “Mom Nature Walk”

Weeding at Ascot Hills Grassland with Seed to Landscape 2/22/26 at 10AM
The grassland we installed at Ascot Hills Park has been inundated with weeds after all these glorious rains. There is so much competition for space and nutrients that the purple needlegrass plants we planted last January are struggling. Our aim is to remove ALL the weeds from this grassland installation before they have a chance to set seeds. The more hands, the better! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

Parking: Dirt lot on immediate left when entering park or street parking on Multnomah
Meeting Place: In front of Ascot Hills Nursery at the far end of the first parking lot (If you're late and we've already left for the project site, here is the exact GPS location for the project area: 34.071331, -118.190481)

With all these abundant rains, the weeds at the grassland are taking over, keeping nutrients away from the needlegrasses we planted last January. Let's remove those weeds for good and start giving the grasses and other perennials we planted a leg up!
Learning Opportunities: Native plant identification, weed identification, habitat restoration
Site and Work Conditions: Uphill hiking (1/4 mile) on dirt trail to get to the project site. Project site is on relatively flat ground. Full sun. Lots of bending and kneeling. Some weeds are prickly. Insects (but no ticks).
Please wear: Protective clothing (Long pants tucked into your socks, shoes/boots with good traction, long sleeved shirt, hat and/or sunscreen for sun protection, etc.)
Please bring: Gardening gloves, water, optional snack

Milkweed Seed Sowing & Up-Potting Party!
Join us for a hands-on Milkweed Seed Sowing & Up-Potting Party at Ascot Hills Park on Saturday, July 26 from 9–11 AM!
This free, community event is all about supporting native plants and pollinators—especially monarch butterflies. Volunteers will help sow native milkweed seeds and up-pot young seedlings that will eventually be planted throughout the park and surrounding green spaces.
No experience necessary—we’ll guide you through every step!
All tools and materials provided
Wear comfortable clothes, bring sun protection and a refillable water bottle
Event is outdoors on uneven ground—sturdy shoes recommended
Learn about the importance of native milkweed and how you can support monarchs at home
Location: Ascot Hills Park Nursery
